How To Choose Your Ideal Warehouse Storage
How To Choose Your Ideal Warehouse Storage
If your business is expanding, you'll be looking to increase your space and capacity to store even more equipment, machinery or stock. One option might be to completely relocate your business and up size to new larger premises. But for some businesses, this isn't an option. Maybe you don't quite have the budget or maybe you can't afford to take the time out to coordinate a move, but for whatever reason you'll be happy to know there are other options available! Instead of completely relocating, simply look into hiring some external storage! That way there's no need to relocate, you simply need to find a great warehouse storage space to suit your needs. But how do you decide what is the best space for you? We've put together a check list to help you select the best kind of warehouse for your business' needs.1.    What are you putting into storage? Do you have large and heavy items? Or maybe you have small quantities of stock packed in boxes? The shape and type of item you need to store will need to be considered. If you're storing long items like wooden or metal poles, you will need a very tall or long space. If your items can be de-constructed and flat packed, you may be able to hire a smaller space.2.    How much will you be storing? The amount of stock you need to store will dictate size, but don't forget to anticipate growth in demand and stocking needs. Some periods of the year may be busier than others. What's the maximum amount you will need to store in the foreseeable future? You may be taking a risk by getting a slightly larger space than you may need, but it's a lighter problem than discovering half way down the line that you've underestimated and you need to move everything into a bigger space.3.    When will you need to access the space? Some storage spaces may grant you twenty four hour access at all days of the year. Others may have certain restrictions, so you need to be sure you can get into the warehouse as and when you need to. This freedom of access is invaluable and shouldn't be under estimated. Even if you think you'll rarely be accessing it, there's always that unforeseen emergency you can never predict!4.    How secure is the space? No matter what you're storing, you'll be wanting to make sure your items are safe and protected. Check what security systems your storage facility has in place. How many systems are there? How many doors are there between the outside and your space? Do you genuinely feel at ease and confident that the storage space will be able to keep your items secure from even the most persistent intruder? You need to be confident that you can trust the facility to protect your stored items. They should be able to answer any questions you have about security, so ask as many as you can!5.    Go and see it! The best piece of advice for choosing the right warehouse space for you is to go and inspect the space yourself. Test out the security systems. Check that the space is dry and clean. Is it ready and clear for you to use immediately? Does it come at a great price? Is the location good enough or close enough? Having a space for storing should be a tool for improving your business and giving you piece of mind, so choose wisely and make sure your investment is the best you can make it for your business.
